VOTE! Best Med School track of 2011?

2011 has been a golden year for Med School. We’ve had no less than fifty tracks released in total over the twelve month period including three albums – first our various artist compilation “New Blood 011″ and then artist albums from Bop – “The Amazing Adventures Of One Curious Pixel” and Unquote – “Reverberation Box”. We’ve also welcomed Lung to the Med School family and had a super strong singles from Joe Syntax and Royalston.

We’ve no doubt at all that 2012 will be even bigger + better, but before we leave the office and tuck into some mince pies and mulled wine we thought it was time to look back on the highlights from 2011 and see what YOU think.

Royalston “Cerulean Blue” EP OUT NOW!

Sydney-based, classically-trained electronic music producer Royalston returns to Med School with his unique brand of glitchy tech drum+bass.

Title track “Cerulean Blue” sets the tone for the EP with tense, trembling synth tones and stern, smacking drums. “Bonesinger”’s beautifully enunciated beats, hissing SFX and thunderous bassline continue to weave the musical magic. “Mantequa” is a tougher incarnation whilst Royalston’s remix of “Japanese Bones” by experimental Australian pop duo MA, is a bold testament to his abilities as a remixer.

Unquote – “Reverberation Box” – OUT NOW!

October 2011 sees the return of Unquote, Med School’s celestial navigator from Saint Petersburg. Aiming to create music which is like “hearing the sound of your soul” Unquote sails the 130-170bpm spectrum and beyond.

Carving out sonic cathedrals from ambient and melodic elements, deep basslines and lush, emotive instrumentals, we last saw Unquote late in 2010, with his poetically entitled masterpiece “Hide Your Tears Because We Are In Heaven”. Now he returns with this 15-track opus which is stunning, heartfelt and hauntingly beautiful.
