Guardian ‘New Band of the Week’: Submerse

Friday, February 24th, 2012

Med School newcomer Submerse has struck a chord with The Guardian, who have named him as their “New Band of the Week”. Although Rob aka Submerse works alone, his enveloping, jittery, j-garage style certainly seems to be making enough noise even without a backing group.

It’s extremely exciting that the national press have picked up on such an individual talent – and about time! Catch his forthcoming track “Always, Like This” on the “Blood Pressure” compilation, and you can also look forward to seeing him featured on a brand new Hospital compilation focusing on non-D+B music.

Lung & High Contrast – “Not Waving, But Drowning”

Friday, February 10th, 2012

Lung‘s collaboration with High Contrast, “Not Waving, But Drowning” from High Contrast’s forthcoming album “The Agony and the Ecstasy” is currently busy making all sorts of noise in the drum + bass scene. Already saluted by Skream on Radio 1, we’re expecting big big things from this track.

Here’s what Lung has to say about “Not Waving, But Drowning”:

“With “Not Waving, But Drowning” I started off helping with writing the bassline, so we jammed out a few ideas in the studio. It’s a very emotional track and the piano Linc (High Contrast) had written was really interesting, it was a case of just building on the musicality and emotion in the tune, so I wrote these big swelling pads and those little blips in the top end (I’d be lost without my blips!) I think we were going for this really powerful and “epic” soundscape, much like the rest of his album, hopefully that’s what we pulled off. I like to think we did! Literally, last night was the first time I’d heard the finished version, Jessy absolutely smashed it on the vocals. Was really great to be a part of the album.”

High Contrast’s album “The Agony and the Ecstasy” featuring “Not Waving, But Drowning” is out on February 27th.

Med School at Fabric

This is the big one guys – the launch night for our huge “Blood Pressure” album is about to drop, and we can’t think of a place we’d rather be celebrating its release than at Fabric. We were last at Fabric back in January and once again we’re taking over room 3 on Friday 9th March.

What to expect: Lung B2B Joe Syntax, Fracture & Neptune, a set from Sydney’s own Royalston, Eleven8, Mutated Forms and Anile, and the whole affair will be hosted by MC Ruthless and Linguistics.

We’ll be sharing Fabric with Marky & Friends in Room One who’ll be playing host to DJ Die as well as The Nextmen and more, and Metalheadz in Room Two with some b2b sets from Goldie and dBridge, Ed Rush and Calyx.

A huge line-up for what we’re expecting to be an even larger night. You do not want to miss this!
