Joe Syntax
“Hospital Records offshoot Med School has been doing a great job of exposing new talent through compilations such as the New Blood series. Of all the producers to get a break this way, Joe Syntax could well be the most exciting. The label has so much faith in the young producer that they’ve commissioned an album, set to drop this year. If you like audio experimentation, fresh ideas and the blending of drum & bass with techno, Joe Syntax could well be this year’s top pick. His DJ sets have also been generating rave reviews.”
Bop
“Russia’s pre-eminent producer of minimal drum & bass first attracted global attention with Song About My Dog, an affectionate ode to his pug (named Boyaka). The delicate and affecting composition was a breath of fresh air – clean, moving and very original – and soon Bop’s debut album was dropping on Hospital’s Med School offshoot. The word is that the electronic wizard is working on a second album due to drop this year with advance demos already generating massive excitement. Judging on past performance it’s no wonder: Bop is one of the most innovative and refreshing artists out there.”
